A Light in the Darkness

As I was playing with this photo of our Christmas tree earlier, I was struck by something:
there is a huge amount of light exploding from this tree!
If you know anything about my family, you know we have alot of practice lighting trees at Christmas :)
I tend to go a bit overboard wrapping each branch individually...
anyway...
:o)
What struck me was this:
It's a simple thought really, one that is centuries old.
Each tiny light on its own shines enough to be sure;
but join many lights together and a certain illumination begins to happen.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this:
Alone, each of us can let our light shine in the darkness....and that's good.
However, if we join together our shining lights,
we can illuminate!
Don't you love the word
Illuminate?
I instantly think of warm glowing shimmering pools of golden light in the darkness.
So,
who would want to remain in the darkness, when they could be bathing in light?
Exactly.
Nobody.
So this is what I suggest:
This Christmas season,
Let your light shine,
gather with others who are lit from within,
and
GLOW!!!!!
" Because the stakes are so high, even though you're up-to-date on all this truth, and practice  it inside and out, I'm not going to let up for a minute in calling you to attention before it. This is the post to which I've been assigned- keeping you alert with frequent reminders-and I'm sticking to it as long as I live.....
We couldn't be more sure of what we saw and heard- God's glory, God's voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You'll do well to keep focusing on it. It's the ONE LIGHT you have in a dark time as you wait on daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star..."
2 Peter 1
The Message
Emphasis Mine

Just a little Christmas pondering,
hoping you'll be
illuminated.
