Ice Cream Social & Book Signing With A Cherry On Top

 Hello + Hello!
How's everyone doing?
I'm floating on a cloud of whipped cream dreams.....
ha ha ha!!!
Seriously....
this past week has been a whirlwind of fun partying galore for my family!
I very much enjoyed all of it...but must admit I'm a little bit exhausted from it today.
All the prep work and excitement of getting things ready for the lovely
was ABSOLUTELY worth it!
Koralee was kind enough to pop into our shop
to sign her new book
Everything Goes With Ice Cream!

You may already know I was blessed enough to be asked by
Koralee to be a contributor to her book along with many other wonderful folks.
It was "pure joy" to have Koralee in the shop with us the night of our
Mother's Day Sale & Ice Cream Social.
Many sweet folks stopped in and had her sign a copy of her book for them.
 Of course,
in true Grandiflora fashion,
we dressed up like old fashioned
Soda Jerks
to serve up the
goodness that only Grandiflora can offer!
We had a ton of fun together, and I'm so thankful for all our amazing employees
who are always so willing to go along with my hair brained ideas
for costumes to fit our functions!!!
( I love you girls!!!)
>>>>>--------------->
It was such a wonderful surprise to meet a new friend of
Koralee's named Carol.
(She also has a feature in the book: Ice Cream Snow Balls)
Carol is obviously very talented and has a very generous spirit just like
Koralee....no wonder they are partners in
the sweet pursuit of ice cream crime!

Did I mention we had a contest for our customers as well?
Oh yes we did!
All you had to do was come dressed as your favorite flavor of ice cream
(strawberry = pink, bubblegum = blue, etc...)
BUT....
we were also giving away gift certificates to the most
creative costumes;
...wouldn't you agree these girls won?
Ha ha ha!!!
LOVE IT!
There were goodies galore & great buys to be had by everyone!
My sister and partner at Grandiflora (La Von)
deserves all the thanks...
If it weren't for her,
I'd never have wondered over to Koralee's blog
and fallen head over heels for her
sweet style.
>>>>>--------------->
Want to know what the
Cherry On Top Was?
Being able to chat with Koralee all night long!
.........
"I'm so glad we met my friend;
here's to your continued success at
Where Women Cook
& with your lovely sweet book
Everything Goes With Ice Cream!"

**All images are credited to my talented niece Emily Visser. Thanks so much for taking photos, so I could have the night off from playing photographer and enjoy my company!**

The 14 Things That Made Me Smile This Week

 Hello + Hello!
Dropping by again to share a few things that made me smile this past week...
14 things to be exact.
Personally, I enjoyed a bunch of junking this past week.
Treasures were everywhere!
I was able to find an antique shell encrusted box for my bathroom cabinet;
it was labelled 1930, Paris. Pretty amazing huh?
It has old mirrors that are losing their silvering on the sides,
& it's in perfect shape....for only $3.00!
Whoo+hoo!
I found a vintage granny square afghan in disrepair, so I decided to disect it...
now I'm waiting on the inspiration I need to decide what to do with the pieces!?
I found hoards of good vintage fabrics & items for my Etsy shops too!
Now that I've washed them all, I need to figure out which ones are staying and which ones are going to need to find a new home.
I treated myself to a few cheap thrills too!
I bought a new necklace with colorful beads from my own shop
&
some sweet little primroses for my window sill.
($2.00 well spent!)
Other than that,
we've been trying to keep up with our chickens & their
egg production!
Whew!
>>>>>--------------->
While I was at work this past week....
I took a few snaps of the new items that keep pouring in from our
January buying trip to Atlanta.
New jewelry, scarves & purses showed up;
as well as new votive cups, flower pots & candles too!
I love to do the displays when I get the chance to.
Taking the photos for the shop is also pretty fun.
But,
going to market & buying all this product has to top the list.
could never be accused of being a boring place to
own, or work at!
We have LOTS of fun there together as a family,
 and with
our employees who are basically our friends too!

>>>>>--------------->

Hope your week was just as fun as mine,
&
I wish you a wonderful weekend filled with joy!!!
Cheers,
T.

Advent Calendar Class at Grandiflora

 Hello + Hello!
How's everything going?
I hope well!
I've been trying to get back to doing some normal things since spending the last few weeks engrossed in everything going on at our shop
here in Lynden, Washington.
I did however...
have to show you this one thing we have going on there....
at the shop.
It's an
Advent Calendar Class
I created from an inspiration found over here on
my Pinterest Christmas board.
( Sorry, the link doesn't connect through...if you know who to credit, I'd love to know!)

This was such a fun project to create!
Time consuming...but fun!
My hubby was kind enough to cut all the lumber
&
I had a good time coming up with all the decorative aspects.
So,
what about you?
Do you have an Advent Calendar at your house?
We have two...and my little boys
LOVE IT!
It's always a great reminder to me
to count down to the night when
our
Saviour Jesus Christ was born....
the REAL reason for this blessed season.
...
Well,
If you're local, I'd love for you to
come on in to the shop and sign up for this great class!
You can find out all the details over
Cheers!

Update: Class is now closed, sorry.

 Hello + Hello!
Just wanted to drop in and say
"hi!"
I havn't had the time to be here blogging very much this past month.
Instead of making excuses for my absence.....
I figured it would be best to let some of the
photos I snapped of our shop
(my mom & sister and I own a shop called
do all the talking for me:

SO...
all that being left unsaid...
I am assuming that you can decipher for yourself what I've been up to?
LOL!!!
Two floors, 4,000 square feet & 5 wonderful employees and various extra helpers.
Yeah...it's been a little crazy!
But good crazy.

Candy & Pumpkins & Costumes OH MY!

Hello + Hello!
It's that time of the year again....
...the time we all like to get a bit spooked out!
I don't generally decorate for Halloween.
It's not been a big deal to me to have scary decor.
I'm more of a cute vintage Halloween lover...
happy pumpkin faces & little ones dressed up as cats & pumpkins.
Personally I don't like it when folks let their kids dress up like
creepy creatures or mass murderers.
Call me old fashioned that way....
.....
However,
I don't mind having a time to get dressed up like your favorite character or hero.
My boys are known to have fun dressing up like:
knights, cowboys or robots.
We normally head to our Church's Harvest Carnival
& afterwards....
to close friends and family homes.
It's never been about the super creepy stuff for us
(although I love a good mystery and a bit of a scary ghost story from time to time.)
but more about dressing up, playing games and eating treats with friends!
My favorites as a child were watching
"The Great Pumpkin" - Charlie Brown
&
"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" -Disney
I always loved Ichabod Crane's character and that silly horse!
>>>>--------------->
Well, in honor of a wholesome Halloween...
I've made a fun sign listing all the things I'd like to experience
around this time of the year.
I hope you like it,
&
if you would like one for yourself, you can find them at my shop
or online at my Etsy shop
&
YES!
It also comes in ghostly black and white!
I hope your costume planning and party going is just as fun as can be!
Cheers,
T.

Vintage Style Covered Button Hair Tie DIY

Hello + Hello!
Do you have little girls? Grandaughters?
If so...
I think you'd like to make these sweet little hair ties for them!
(They make adorable Stocking Stuffers, Easter Egg Stuffers, or Party Favors!)
This craft couldn't be any easier.
The hardest part is deciding which fabrics to use!
I like to use vintage lace/fabric whenever possible as I have so many
lovely little scraps from my shops on Etsy:
***Before I begin, I just want to state that this tutorial assumes you've covered a self covering button before. If not, rest assured when you purchase self covering buttons at your local craft supply store, you'll probably find detailed instructions in the package...along with the little plastic tools you'll need to cover the buttons with.***
>>>--------->
That being said...
Basically you need 3 supplies and a few handy tools.
Supplies:
1. Hair bands.
2. Fabric/Lace or both.
3. Self covering buttons & button tool (2 pieces, generally comes in package).
Tools:
1. Scissors.
2. Hammer.
How To:
1. Layer lace over right side of fabric.
2. Lay face down on rubber button tool; insert metal button.
3. Cut fabric/lace in a circle around the button tool,
leaving enough overhang to tuck into hollow part of button.
4. Add button back and push in (if possible) with your fingers, otherwise...
5. Set second part of button tool onto button back
& use the hammer to tap firmly into place.
6. Loop hair tie through the hole in back of button
and loop through itself again causing it to slip knot.
It's pretty simple!

I'll be bringing these button ties into my shop
soon as sadly there are no little girls in my home to share them with.
I find joy in watching mamas pick them out with their daughters for birthday presesnts
and the like.
I've toyed with making something similar for my boys...but in the form of a rubber band style launcher.
We'll see if I ever venture to make that a reality?!?!
LOL
>>>------->
Well....
The buttons are very fun to make,
so...
I hope you don't become addicted on my part!
Enjoy, and thanks for stopping by.
Cheerio my friends!
